Year 6 came up with the brilliant idea of raising money for Charity Champions by organising a lively and hilarious event called “Try Not to Laugh.” After discussing different ways to fundraise, the class agreed that bringing laughter into the school day would not only lift everyone’s spirits but also encourage lots of enthusiastic participation. On the day, the children paired up and were given five minutes for one partner to do anything that they could—tell jokes, share funny stories, act out silly scenarios, or pull the most ridiculous faces—to try and make the other person laugh. The challenge was for the partner to stay as serious as possible, which turned out to be much harder than expected. The classroom buzzed with excitement, cheerful chatter, and bursts of laughter as each pair took their turn. In the end, the activity didn’t just raise money for a worthy cause—it also brought the whole class together in a memorable celebration of teamwork, creativity, and joy.
