Making our own Agamographs (an optical illusion). We talked about resolutions for the year ahead and what we wanted most for our lives. We discussing powerful words through the picture book Martin's Big Words (fighting with words, not fists) and how important words can be.
The children had fun sorting and categorising all of our Harvest items. they worked together to group items, tally them and then found ways to help them count large amounts. They grouped tins, for example into 5s and then placed these in arrays to help them collect their data. We have used our tally charts to collect and will be creating our bars charts to present this discrete data. We discussed why counting accurately in different jobs is important. A busy but fun morning in Year 3! Maths is so much fun!
Learning about Black History in Year 3
Year 3 have really impressed Mrs Reece this week! We all chose a person we wanted to learn about. We then researched about this person in our missions, scanning for important information. We then chose HOW we wished to present our learning following discussions of key vocabulary and key questions we had. We had big discussions about celebrating equality 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year: all of the time, and not just in a month. We were all ethically informed, and worked so well independently making really good choices about our learning. There were poems included, applied numeracy bar charts, and creative drawings. WOW! Year 3 are superstars!
