Cluster Family Liaison Outreach Worker
I have recently been appointed as the full time Family Liaison Outreach Worker (CFLOW) for the Penyrheol Cluster of schools and working directly with families at Casllwchwr Primary School. I am pleased to be part of a dedicated team of staff and I am really looking forward to working with families from the Lower Loughor area.
I have been working in education for the past 14 years, all of which I worked in primary schools across Swansea. During my time in schools, I was involved in supporting children from a range of backgrounds and also working with parents and families to ensure that they are getting the best support available.
I hold a degree in Early Years Education and Care and Level 2 and 3 qualification in Children's Care, Learning and Development, which I completed whilst working full time and with a family who are also in full time education. So I know how busy and stressful life can be when you’re trying to juggle it all.
As I am passionate about building family engagement and community relationships, my plan is to run 'drop in' sessions at Casllwchwr for parents and carers to attend. These groups are designed to ensure families are supported and my role is to act as a bridge between school and home. During these sessions, parents will have the opportunity to develop friendships with each other, share any concerns and enjoy working alongside staff at Casllwchwr.
My aim is to make the journey at Casllwchwr Primary a welcoming and enjoyable time for all families, so I am here to help and support all the families of children from the Lower Loughor area in however way I can.
I have access to a community room located in the school, so parents/ carers can contact me at any time, and I’ll be happy to help.
The 'drop in' sessions will take place every Thursday between 9:00 and 11:00am at the school in the Community / Nurture / Playgroup Room which can be accessed from the main road pedestrian entrance. You do not need to book an appointment, please just come along.
If you need to contact me at any point, my mobile number is 07599 516716 (during normal school hours).
Cathryn Roberts.
