Staff in Year 5: Mrs S Reece,  Miss M Gale

I am really excited to be teaching you all this half term! We have a fun-filled year ahead of us with a trip already booked to enable us to learn more about our topic for the term! I am also excited to learn new things from you. I love children in my class to bring in items of interest about our topics (books, pictures, photographs) It is really good to share news and speak about new facts discovered! You will also be involved in planning around our topics too.

Our 2016-17  Topics:
Autumn: The Vile Victorians
Spring: Amazing Africa
Summer: The Blue Planet

PE Days:  Tuesdays (indoor session)   Fridays ( development officer)

Please make sure that you have appropriate kit for the PE days (shorts, T-shirts and also tracksuits and trainers for the Autumn and Winter months as it does get cold)

Reading At Casllwchwr, we do many forms of reading:
Guided reading in groups (same text for whole group- decided by the teacher with lots of talk involved teaching objectives)
Shared (paired and group)
Independent (for enjoyment)

Please make sure you bring your reading books into school every day. Use your Reading Records and comment on them. I understand it may be hard for Mums and Dads to hear you read every night, so be independent and read to yourself when they can’t. Try to alternate it as much as possible and try to read a range of books.

Homework
Mondays:
English homework given out and brought in on the Friday
Maths homework given out and brought in on the Friday

Reading every night for 20 minutes

Learning logs shall be given out with 10 days to complete and will include creative skills, thinking skills and research skills.

It’s time for a year of maximum standards, listening to each other, taking risks, thinking big, being better than yesterday, being bothered, no dead time, saying please and thank you and not being afraid to make mistakes!

If you have any questions or queries please feel free to email me on the address below:-
